Susan Kline joined the Duke team in 2014 to serve as Vice Chair of Finance and Administration for the Department of Pediatrics in the School of Medicine and Chief Administrator for the pediatric practice plan within the Private Diagnostic Clinic, PLLC (Duke Health’s overarching practice plan). In this role, she is responsible for the administrative management and coordination of all business related functions for the department's clinical operations/practice management, education, and research missions, including finance, personnel, space and facilities planning, grant administration, quality/compliance, strategic and external planning, and development. Prior to joining Duke, Susan served as the Department Administrator for the Department of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine and the administrator of the Mayo Clinic Children's Center and Mayo Eugenio Litta Children's Hospital at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. She was responsible for integrating and growing the pediatric practices across the Mayo Enterprise, which spanned operations and healthcare delivery innovation in inpatient/outpatient, primary/specialty care across four states. She has held various other leadership/management roles at Mayo Clinic with prior experiences in the pharmaceutical industry and consulting. Susan received her master's degree from the McCormick School of Engineering at Northwestern University and bachelor's degrees in Microbiology and Public Relations from Oklahoma State University. She enjoys cooking and being with her two boys and husband.
