Executive Director, Children’s University Medical Group

Executive Search firm, Avoca Search, is pleased to be working with Children’s University Medical Group in Seattle, Washington to identify a strategic and visionary operational leader to serve as their next Executive Director. Children’s University Medical Group (CUMG) is the non-profit pediatric group practice established to support the academic, research and clinical missions of its corporate members, University of Washington School of Medicine (UWSOM) and Seattle Children’s Hospital (Children’s).

This is an exciting opportunity to join a world class organization with an exceptional reputation that is well-positioned to transform pediatric healthcare in the communities that it serves. The Executive Director is the key administrative and financial manager for CUMG and is responsible, directly or through purchased service contract oversight for revenue cycle, contracting, physician compensation and benefits, data analytics, compliance and charge capture for the practice. The Executive Director is ultimately responsible for meeting and continuously monitoring the goals and objectives of CUMG while maintaining alignment with the strategic goals and objectives of Seattle Children’s Hospital and the UW School of Medicine.

CUMG is comprised of approximately 700 physicians primarily based at Seattle Children’s who hold appointments at the University of Washington School of Medicine. Seattle Children’s serves as the primary teaching, clinical and research site for the UW School of Medicine’s department of pediatrics. The 407-bed hospital provided over 377,000 visits in 2020 across all the pediatric medical and surgical specialties and U.S. News & World Report has recognized Seattle Children’s as a top children’s hospital every year since it began ranking medical facilities more than 25 years ago.

This position provides the opportunity for a leader who enjoys both operational and strategic challenges and brings deep understanding of the business of running a faculty practice plan. The Executive Director must be adept at anticipating and resolving problems, facilitating decision making process and be able to serve as a bridge between the pediatric hospital, medical school, and faculty. This includes providing oversight of the practice management services purchased from Seattle Children’s Hospital and UW Physicians.

In addition, ideal candidates will have 10 years of experience in a complex healthcare provider setting with management-level responsibility, preferably within academic medicine. Experience in a pediatric practice would be a plus. A Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or equivalent experience required.
