Stony Brook University seeks an enterprising and accomplished leader to serve as its next Department Administrator, Pediatrics for the Renaissance School of Medicine. This is an excellent opportunity to partner with a collaborative Chair and growing department to serve as a key leader and advisor.
Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University is a public medical school in Stony Brook, New York. It is part of Stony Brook University, a flagship of the State University of New York (SUNY) system and one of 62 members of the Association of American Universities (AAU), and one of the nation’s premier centers for academic and healthcare excellence.
Reporting to the Chair, Carolyn Milana, M.D. and with a dotted line report to the SOM Associate Vice President for Administration & Finance, the Department Administrator functions as the chief operating and financial administrator and plans, coordinates and directs broad and complex financial and management functions of the Department in support of clinical care, research and medical education. The Department Administrator will collaborate with leaders across Stony Brook Medicine and work in close concert with the Department Chair, Vice Chairs, Division Chiefs, and administrators to develop a short and long-term strategy to grow clinical programs while advancing the education and research missions.
The successful candidate will have at least eight years of academic medical or complex healthcare management experience and knowledge of major federal awards, clinical trials, and medical education operations and financing. Candidates should bring experience in leading a staff and budget across diverse clinical specialties, and possess exceptionally sharp analytical skills. The next Department Administrator will need to be an exceptionally strong communicator and relationship builder committed to advancing a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment.
